Alfred A. King Family Auction

I always have mixed feelings at a family estate auction, knowing that the items being sold will no longer be with the original family. This was especially true at the Alfred A. King estate auction this past month. Alfred and his wife lived in our same home town of Austin, Texas. Although we did not know them, we knew *of* them, and the famous King Ranch, an 825,000 acre ranch in South Texas. Alfred was the great grandson of Captain Richard King, the founder of the ranch. Alfred served in World War II in the Air Force, and is credited with helping bring the semiconductor industry to Austin, as co-founder and chairman of MRI Systems, later soled to Intel. He and his wife, Ellen were also prominent philanthropists in Austin. More on Alfred can be found his obituary.

Items that are provenance of the King estate are noted in the individual descriptions.
